3 Ways To Start Your Day With A Confidence Boost

“Either you run the day or the day runs you” says Jim Rohn. And if we are completely honest, we all want to run our day but we end up allowing ourselves to be overwhelmed and then the daily tasks and routines take over.  How can we stop that?

You may or may not be a fan of morning routines. It is recommended to keep a routine in place, especially for the first ten minutes of the day so that you can kick start your morning on the right foot. But even if you find yourself skipping your routine, you can at least keep the tips below in mind and make sure you apply at least one of them so that you fill your cup of self-confidence before you step out of the house.

There are so many healthy habits that you can include in your morning routine, from exercising, stretching, journaling to meditating or drinking water with lemon. Once you have completed your favourite ones, it’s time to boost your confidence in order to get ready for the first day of the rest of your life.

  • Listen to uplifting music or inspirational videos

I am personally a huge fan of dancing around the house. In the morning or throughout the day, you will find me busting a move and perhaps even singing along if I get fired up. It’s just something that ALWAYS works and does the trick.

In fact, moving your body has a lot of benefits. Energetically, you shake off the stalled vibes from the night before. Physically, you are basically breaking a sweat without even having to go to the gym. And emotionally you are increasing your levels of endorphins, therefore you feel a lot better.

If you don’t feel like moving, just play a motivational track. You can find a variety of options on YouTube and choose whatever works best for you. Maybe you want to be inspired by a TED Talk, or you want to hear some mantras or affirmations, play it in the background while you shower and brush your teeth. It can only bring positive shifts into your confidence levels.

  • Dress for how you want to feel, not for how you are actually feeling

We’ve all had days when we feel like wearing our sweatpants all day long. Or not even getting out of our pijamas.

If you have to get out of the house and go to the office or go to meetings, then you are forced to open your wardrobe and stare at it for five minutes before you make a decision. And you wish you could wear something as comfortable as your sweatpants. But I guarantee that if you dress up as if you are showing up for the job of your dreams or for meeting the ideal client of your ideal business, your energy will shift. You will feel confident because you know you deserve to be wearing a smart outfit that makes you feel good about yourself and the world around you.

It is even easier to fall into this trap if you are a freelancer or an entrepreneur working from home. You can be tempted to hang around in your pijamas all day long, but that will not really motivate you. You don’t want to feel sleepy all day long, you want to rock your business and be productive. So make sure you change into an outfit that boosts your confidence. And ladies, if you want to even put on some make-up while working from home, go for it. Even just some red lipstick will do to get you ready for attacking your full inbox.

  • Be grateful for what is coming your way and what you already have

One big mistake that we all have a tendency to make is to start our day focusing on all that we have to do and all that we are lacking of. Be it that we don’t have enough time to complete our to do list or the rent is due and you think that you don’t have enough money to pay it, your confidence level will instantly drop as soon as you start thinking about what you don’t have.

Instead, try thinking about what you have and most importantly for what you WILL have. Yes, that is right, this is the Law of Attraction. Pretend that you already have the money to pay the rent or the time to finish your tasks. Be grateful. Maybe write it down or just be. But you will feel more motivated to get through the day if you are running it from a place of gratitude rather than being concerned, fearful and under pressure.

Try any of these three tips (or all of them) on a morning that you feel like going back to sleep and choose to show up with confidence. It is after all in your own power how you get yourself motivated and you owe it to yourself to boost your mood. The way you start your day will make an impact for all the hours ahead. And while you are at it, do not forget to smile from the moment you wake up, your day is going to be awesome.
